Afghan businesspeople claim that banks ignore recent directives from the Central Bank or Da Afghanistan Bank. The banks continue to impose withdrawal limits of no more than $200 or 20,000 Afghanis, according to Afghan businesspeople.

The banks still do not pay anyone more than 20,000 Afghanis per week, according to Haji Obaidullah Sader Khail, the chairman of the Afghan Business Council in the United Arab Emirates.

Sader Khail, meantime, told Khaama Press that the major difficulty facing Afghan businesspeople is sending money overseas, and he said that “businessmen who import foodstuff, medicines, and other important commodities could not pay or transfer money to the foreign companies or factories.”

He continued by saying that because to the aforementioned difficulties, businesspeople are presently moving their funds via Hawala, which comes with an additional cost of up to 10% in some situations, thus affecting the prices of imported goods. Common people pay the prices, in contrast.

He claimed that the temporary administration had discussed the subject of international money transfers, but businesses still need to find a solution. He continued by saying that if they didn’t handle the issue of moving money for commercial purposes, the price of imported goods like groceries, raw materials, and pharmaceuticals would change.

After loosening limitations on bank withdrawals, the Afghan central bank increased the maximum from $200 to $600 denominated accounts or Afghanis equivalent every week. These comments were made in response to the change.
