Old hours will return when Ramadan is over, according to Lahore DC.
In response to the increasing smog, the district government of Lahore has revised the schedule that restaurants and bakeries must adhere to during the sacred month of Ramadan.
The province capital of Lahore is one of the cities most impacted by pollution, so the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered the early closing of marketplaces and eateries in the city last December.
The restrictions have stayed in place, with a few changes made on January 20 and March 30, up until this point, when the city is still covered in pollution.
However, the hours have now been changed so that restaurants and other eating establishments are now permitted to operate from iftar until 6 am the following morning, while bakeries are now permitted to operate from their starting time until 1 am.
According to a notice released by Lahore District Commissioner Rafia Haider, “Dedicated medical stores and pharmacies (to the extent of medicines), hospitals, laboratories, petrol pumps, CNG stations, milk shops, tandoors, and puncture shops shall remain exempted” from the scheduling restrictions.
When Ramadan is over, the regular hours will return, according to the notification.
It also stated that any company discovered to be in violation of the directive would be dealt with according to the LHC’s instructions.
