On Thursday, the Afghan Ministry of Defense (MoD) stated that the Afghan Air Force’s engineering staff had completed repairs on two more aircraft, making them suitable for flight.
The Air Force’s technical, expert teams, and engineers have successfully repaired two additional Russian M-17 helicopters and one American Black Hawk helicopter, according to a statement from the National Defense Ministry.
The Air Force’s commander, Mawlavi Abdul Ghafar Mohammadi, promised to fix additional planes while praising the efforts of the engineers and technical teams.
The Ministry of Defense said that the Afghan air force had fixed more than sixty helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft that were previously useless due to mechanical problems.
Among the sixty repaired aircraft, the Afghan air force has restored and currently operates three transport aircraft, which include two An-32s and one An-26.
Prior to this, the US Defense Ministry reported that the military of the old regime had transported 46 helicopters to Uzbekistan and 18 helicopters to Tajikistan after its overthrow.
According to various accounts from US sources, the Taliban leadership has taken more than $7 billion in military hardware and ammunition since August 2021.
