On Friday, the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement confirming that the second group of Afghan citizens, who had been sent to Saudi Arabia, landed in Kabul aboard an Ariana Afghan Airline aircraft.

These Afghans were recently relocated from the Sudan to Jeddah with the help of the Saudi authorities.

According to Hafiz Zia Ahmad, the deputy spokesperson for the Afghan foreign ministry, the Afghan citizens who were stuck in Sudan were first evacuated and sent to Saudi Arabia. Ahmad later reported that they had returned to Kabul on Friday, May 5.

The evacuees were grateful for the swift actions taken in this respect by the foreign ministry and the Afghan Embassy in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

One of the first ministries to respond quickly to aid Afghans impacted by the conflict between Sudan’s military and paramilitary organisation was Afghanistan’s foreign ministry. The Islamic Emirate government’s prompt action is commendable despite all the challenges, according to one evacuee.

On April 15, a battle between Sudan’s two military groups broke out, causing thousands of people to flee and be displaced as well as hundreds of fatalities.

Both sides in the conflict have been urged to accept a seven-day ceasefire and possibly a longer-term truce after South Sudan offered to mediate.
