According to a joint statement released on Saturday, May 20th, the Taliban must agree to form an inclusive administration. They should engage in a national conversation that includes all Afghans in authority. This statement was issued by the member nations of the Group of Seven.

According to this statement, “We ask the Taliban to respect Resolution 2681 of 2023 and the United Nations Charter, including Article Eight. Also ensure the unrestricted activities of the United Nations in Afghanistan.”

Germany, America, Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, and France make up the Group of Seven. Each year, the group meets under the presidency of the host nation in one of the member nations.

This group held the 2023 meeting in Hiroshima, Japan. The member countries have published the joint statement on the White House website.
