Sergey Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia, stated that as long as an inclusive administration is not established, Russia cannot recognize Taliban in Afghanistan.
Lavrov stated at the Russian-Tajik Slavonic University on Tuesday that if the commitments to establish an inclusive administration are upheld, Russia can only initiate the recognition of the Taliban in Afghanistan.
He emphasized that formal discussions regarding the recognition of the Taliban movement’s administration cannot take place until the aforementioned requirements have been fulfilled.
These obligations include establishing a government that is ethnically and politically balanced, taking more decisive action against terrorism and drug trafficking, and ensuring that Tajiks and all other Afghan residents have access to basic human rights.
