Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the US is apparently attempting to meddle in Afghan issues once more.
Speaking on the margins of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Council of Foreign Ministers on Friday, Lavrov accused the United States of trying to intervene in Afghanistan’s domestic affairs once more.
Lavrov asserts that there are still terrorist groups operating there that are supported by the US and hostile to the Taliban.
The US is attempting to re-inject its military infrastructure into the region surrounding Afghanistan and Central Asia, said Lavrov, “despite the grave risks posed by such actions.”
The Russian Foreign Minister further emphasised that Russia will resolutely oppose such initiatives.
Lavrov hoped that the decision to create the SCO-Afghanistan group would be put into operation as soon as possible since Afghanistan needed immediate action.
To maintain tranquilly and stability in Afghanistan and the surrounding area, the SCO-Afghanistan group was founded.
The member nations of the SCO had previously voiced worry over security risks coming from Afghanistan.
Eight permanent members and four observers make up the regional intergovernmental Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, India, and Pakistan are among the members.
