According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce “Saffron as substitute crop in Afghanistan”, Afghanistan exported 69 tonnes of saffron worth $22 million during the previous solar year (March 2022 to March 2023).

China, India, and the United Arab Emirates took in the majority of the world’s saffron exports, the Ministry of Agriculture reported.

The European International Organization in Taste awarded Afghanistan’s saffron a three-star rating and declared it the greatest in the world.

A member of the Saffron Producers Union in Kabul reports that Afghanistan’s saffron production and farming have earned recognition as the highest-quality saffron in the world for the eighth consecutive year.
