The Pakistan Cricket Team is back in India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 after a seven-year absence. On September 27, the team led by Babar Azam arrived in Hyderabad, gearing up for the competition, and the cricket-obsessed country has been treating them like royalty ever since.
After the Pakistani squad arrived in India, top Indian batter Virat Kohli posted a Tweet that quickly went viral on social media. In it, the former India captain welcomed the Pakistan team and promised to throw them a party.
“I warmly Welcome Pakistan Cricket Team on their arrival in my country after a long time period of 7 years, I will host a party for my friends specially for Shadab at my house 🤗 Love you all, always spread love and joy,” the viral Tweet reads.

Additional investigation uncovered that a phoney account with the username @amiVkohli, not Virat Kohli’s official account (@imVkohli), actually sent the Tweet. Moreover, the official account did not send any such Tweet when we examined Kohli’s Twitter messages from September 27 onwards.

Notably, Kohli’s actual account with his wife Anushka Sharma and the parody account both use the same profile image. A proud husband and parent, according to its bio, yet directly below that, the owner makes it plain that the account is a parody.
Notably, Kohli fosters strong camaraderie with all Pakistan cricketers, as he’s often observed engaging in fun chats with them both on and off the field. Consequently, people mistakenly believed the viral Tweet to be genuine.

India and Pakistan to lock horns on October 14
Meanwhile, Pakistan have begun their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on Friday, October 06 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The Babar Azam-led side lost both of their warm-up fixtures vs New Zealand and Australia respectively and have started a strong comeback against the Dutch. Pakistan won by 81 runs against Netherlands.
Pakistan will lock horns with India in the biggest game of the tournament on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
