Tajikistan Security Forces Kill Militants in Combat at Afghanistan Border
Reports from Tajik media reveal that a group of militants clashed with the nation’s police forces near the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border on the night of April 27. The police forces killed eight militants, including Kamran Rajabzada, the leader of Tajikistan’s State Committee for National Security, during the confrontation.
According to the Khawar news agency, the incident took place in the Badakhshan area, and smugglers killed a soldier during a separate battle. The traffickers reportedly originated from Afghanistan and three of their Tajik comrades also died in the conflict.
On Friday, the nation’s capital, Dushanbe Sino region, laid to rest the slain member of Tajikistan’s State Committee for National Security.
This is the second encounter between Tajikistan’s military forces and armed individuals in recent times. The previous incident resulted in the deaths of three persons, all of whom were Afghan nationals, according to reports from government authorities.
The clash highlights the ongoing threat of cross-border terrorism in the region and the efforts of Tajikistan’s security forces to combat it.
