Three journalists who had been detained in Baghlan have been released, according to the Afghan Free Media Support Agency.

Today, April 6, this organisation announced via a press statement that the journalists Ghulam Ali Wahdat of Tanveer TV, Safiullah of National TV, and Syed Noor Agha, who were detained by the Islamic Emirate’s intelligence yesterday, were returned.

The press statement claims that although the cause for the journalists’ detention has not yet been made clear, they have reportedly been freed on bond from the Islamic Emirate’s prison.

This organisation said in a different news release today on the three journalists who were detained in Baghlan that media interference persists despite talks with the security services.

The release of these three journalists was also confirmed by the Afghanistan Journalists’ Center in a press statement, which also said that the Islamic Emirate’s intelligence department freed the aforementioned individuals on bail after 28 hours.

It should be emphasised that in the last three months, there has been a rise in violence against journalists in Afghanistan, including arbitrary detentions, coercion, and even torture.
