Babar Azam leadership; Former Pakistani captain Shoaib Malik highlighted that Babar Azam, the captain of the national team now, doesn’t think creatively and hasn’t demonstrated any leadership growth.
Out of style Former captain of Pakistan and batter Shoaib Malik has attacked Babar Azam’s leadership, calling on the 28-year-old superstar to resign from the position following the Men in Green’s crushing loss to India in the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15 (Sunday). Malik, who has competed against Babar for Pakistan, highlighted that the captain of the team doesn’t think creatively and hasn’t demonstrated any leadership growth.
“I already expressed the view that Babar Azam need to relinquish his captaincy. This is what I personally think. In his role as captain, Babar does not think creatively. Although he is leading, there is no progress. As a player, he can work miracles for Pakistan,” Malik stated on A Sports.
Returning to the game, Rohit Sharma’s India won the one-sided contest with seven wickets and 19.3 overs remaining. Utterly demolishing and demoralising Pakistan in the process. Consequently, with three victories in as many games as they had played in the competition thus far. The Men in Blue soared to the top of the points table.
Pakistan scored a mere 191 runs, despite notable inputs from Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam. Together, Babar and Rizwan scored a respectable 72 runs from 58 deliveries, with Babar scoring a strong 50 off 58 deliveries and Rizwan scoring 49. India’s fortunes changed when Siraj fired Azam for 2/50, an extraordinary move. Pakistan’s innings came to an end when Bumrah’s deft slow off-cutter. For 2/19 in 7 overs went between Rizwan’s bat and pad.
During their chase, India won easily because to an incredible 86-run performance. Off just 63 balls from Rohit Sharma, who displayed his skill. With this victory, India won their third straight and surged to the top of the ODI World Cup 2023 table. With this win, India maintained their three-decade-long dominance over their opponents in World Cup ODIs and took the lead in the points table. It’s important to remember that India has defeated Pakistan in all eight of their ODI World Cup matches.
