According to Zabihullah Mujahid, a top spokesman for the interim government, the Daesh group’s operations in Afghanistan have been curtailed and the organisation is being dismantled.

In an interview with state-run TV RTA, Zabihullah Mujahid, a top spokesman for Afghanistan’s interim government, stated that some nations are exaggerating and spreading fake propaganda about Daesh’s dangers in the country to profit from it.

According to Mujahid, these nations want to overstate the presence of Daesh and the threat that it poses against the populace or the government of the nation.

He also rejected this slander and previously mentioned that the Taliban forces had slain over 1,100 combatants and imprisoned 1,600 to 1,700 Daesh militants since August 2021.

However, US Central Command commander Michael Kurilla claimed in a recent speech to Congress that ISIS is now more potent in Afghanistan than before.

Kurilla warned that an attack by ISIS, whose ultimate goal is to strike on the US homeland, could endanger at least hundreds of thousands of Americans. The US general claimed that there are at least 6,500 Daesh militants in Afghanistan, with 4,000 of them stationed near the Tajikistan boundary.
