WhatsApp introduces "Keep Message" feature to control disappearing messagesWhatsApp introduces "Keep Message" feature to control disappearing messages

WhatsApp, owned by Meta and widely used by thousands of users, is reportedly adding a new feature that allows users to prevent text messages from disappearing, according to WaBetaInfo.

According to a website that tracks app updates, a new feature called “keep message” is currently available to some beta users.

The “keep message” function allows users to prevent certain communications from disappearing, which can be useful if they receive a message that they don’t want to lose.

Previously, many users were unable to prevent messages from disappearing because the “keep” feature was not available. However, some beta users can now use this feature in the latest iOS 23.7.0.72 update.

With the new “keep message” feature, users can prevent their messages from disappearing, while others can do the same with messages sent to them. WaBetaInfo reports that selecting the “unkeep” option will cause a message that is about to disappear to vanish once again.

WaBetaInfo also noted that because “people are still in control of their disappearing messages,” it is not possible to prevent a message from disappearing once it has been ignored.

The ability to read and review messages in the “kept messages” section provides users with a sense of control over their communication.
